Abstract

Latar Belakang: Kesehatan gigi dan mulut berperan penting dalam fungsi makan, berbicara, pertumbuhan, dan kualitas hidup anak. Anak usia taman kanak-kanak rentan mengalami karies karena kebiasaan menyikat gigi yang belum benar dan tingginya konsumsi makanan kariogenik. Data Survei Kesehatan Indonesia (SKI) 2023 menunjukkan masalah kesehatan gigi dan mulut di Indonesia masih tinggi, mencerminkan rendahnya upaya pencegahan dan pemeriksaan rutin. Tujuan: Mengevaluasi efektivitas penyuluhan kesehatan gigi dan mulut serta pemberian Topikal Aplikasi Fluor (TAF) sebagai upaya pencegahan karies pada anak di komunitas KB dan TK Tasya Yayasan Al-Asyari Kota Kediri. Metode: Kegiatan dilaksanakan melalui ceramah interaktif, demonstrasi dan praktik menyikat gigi bersama, pemeriksaan plak dengan disclosing agent, penilaian kebersihan gigi menggunakan Oral Hygiene Index Simplified (OHI-S), serta pemberian TAF pada permukaan gigi anak. Hasil: Sebanyak 55 anak mengikuti kegiatan dengan antusias. Setelah penyuluhan, anak menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman mengenai fungsi gigi, waktu menyikat gigi yang benar, dan makanan kariogenik yang perlu dihindari, serta mampu menirukan teknik menyikat gigi dengan cukup baik, meskipun sebelum intervensi masih ditemukan plak terutama pada gigi posterior dan sela-sela gigi. Kesimpulan: Pendekatan multi-metode yang menggabungkan penyuluhan interaktif, praktik menyikat gigi, pemeriksaan kebersihan gigi, dan TAF berpotensi efektif meningkatkan pengetahuan dan perilaku kesehatan gigi anak, sehingga layak direkomendasikan sebagai strategi promotif–preventif untuk pencegahan karies di lingkungan sekolah.

Afrida Nurmalasari, Program Studi Sarjana Kedokteran Gigi, Universitas Kadiri, Kediri, Indonesia

Afrida Nurmalasari is a dedicated researcher and academic in the field of dental biomaterials with a primary focus on composite resin materials and natural-derived dental materials. She has more than 15 years of professional experience in academic dentistry, serving on the faculty of the Faculty of Dentistry, Bhakti Wiyata Institute of Health Sciences, Kediri, Indonesia, where she has been actively involved in teaching, research, and community service. For the past four years, she has held the position of Dean, providing academic leadership, curriculum development, and research coordination. In addition, she currently serves as Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Dentistry, Kadiri University, where she is responsible for academic affairs, educational quality assurance, and research development. Erwin Gunawan, Program Studi Sarjana Kedokteran Gigi, Universitas Kadiri, Kediri, Indonesia

Erwin Gunawan is a postgraduate alumnus of the master's program in oral biology at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Indonesia (2023-2025). He is funded by a scholarship from The Indonesia Endowment Funds for Education (LPDP). His experience as a Special Research Student at the Tohoku University Graduate School of Dentistry, Sendai, Japan, collaborated with Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Indonesia. He is currently a Lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry, Kadiri University, Kediri, East Java, where he applies his international clinical and academic experience to enhance dental education and foster innovative research. His research interests focus on oral microbiology, particularly the oral microbiome in relation to stunting, including oral biomarkers and dental health education. Dewi Anggreani Bibi, Program Studi Sarjana Kedokteran Gigi, Universitas Kadiri, Kediri, Indonesia

Dewi Anggreani Bibi is a pediatric dentist and lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry, Kadiri University, Indonesia. She completed her specialist training in Pediatric Dentistry at Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya, and has extensive clinical experience in managing children’s oral health, including prior professional service in East Kalimantan. Her clinical expertise covers preventive and curative dental care for children, with a particular emphasis on behavior management, early childhood caries prevention, and comprehensive pediatric dental treatment delivered through a child-friendly and professional approach. At Kadiri University, she is actively involved in teaching, clinical supervision, and community-based oral health programs focused on improving dental health outcomes in children. Dian Natalina Fuddjiantari, Program Studi Sarjana Kedokteran Gigi, Universitas Kadiri, Kediri, Indonesia

Dian Natalina Fuddjiantari is a specialist in conservative dentistry and endodontics who practices in Kediri Regency, East Java. She resides in Dusun Datengan, Datengan Village, Grogol District, Kediri, and is actively involved in providing dental care services to the surrounding community. As a Sp.KG specialist, she is skilled in conservative dental treatments, including root canal therapy, tooth restoration, and the preservation of the function and aesthetics of compromised teeth.
In her daily practice, she emphasizes the importance of preventing tooth damage through patient education on oral hygiene, dietary habits that support dental health, and regular dental visits for the early detection of oral and dental problems. Her professional interests include evidence-based conservative dental care, the management of pulpal pain and infection, and the improvement of dental health literacy at both family and community levels. She believes that a good understanding of oral health enables patients to make informed decisions about the treatments they need.
Beyond her clinical activities, Dian Natalina Fuddjiantari demonstrates a commitment to the development and documentation of knowledge in dentistry, including engagement in writing and publishing written works. For her, books and scientific publications are essential instruments for disseminating knowledge and inspiring future generations, and she therefore encourages readers to continuously broaden their insight into oral and dental health as part of lifelong learning.

Ibnu Gunawan, Program Studi Sarjana Kedokteran Gigi, Universitas Kadiri, Kediri, Indonesia

Ibnu Gunawan is a medical doctor and health sciences scholar who currently serves as Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Kadiri University, Kediri, Indonesia. Holding a Doctorate in Economics from Universitas Negeri Malang (2025), he combines a strong background in medicine and health management with expertise in health economics and institutional governance. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in academic leadership, curriculum development, and the advancement of community-based dental education. Dr. Ibnu emphasizes that being a dentist is not merely a profession but a calling to serve with knowledge, compassion, and empathy, and he encourages the next generation of dental students to adapt to the digital era while remaining grounded in humanistic values. Meyrinda Tobing, Program Studi Sarjana Kedokteran Gigi, Universitas Kadiri, Kediri, Indonesia

Meyrinda Tobing is an academic, professional trainer, and facilitator with a strong background in health sciences and education. She completed her Master of Health (M.Kes) at Kadiri University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics Education from Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA). With this interdisciplinary foundation, she is actively involved in teaching, training, and developing learning programs that integrate educational principles with contemporary health issues. Her professional interests include the use of digital technology to enhance health education, particularly in the context of community-based dentistry. Through her work as a trainer and facilitator, she regularly engages students, lecturers, and practitioners in capacity-building activities aimed at improving the quality of health services. Arini Indriyasari is a student in Universitas Strada Indonesia with an educational background in the Dental Profession Program from the Bhakti Wiyata Institute of Health Sciences Kediri, and a Doctoral’s degree of public Health from Universitas Strada Indonesia. Sih Anggara Dharma Putra is a Dentistry student at Kadiri University who has a strong commitment to the advancement of organizations and public health.
