Abstract

Latar Belakang: Karies gigi pada anak prasekolah masih sering terjadi dan berkaitan dengan penumpukan plak, konsumsi makanan kariogenik, keterbatasan keterampilan menyikat gigi, serta rendahnya kesadaran menjaga kebersihan mulut. Disclosing agent sebagai pewarna plak dapat membantu anak melihat area gigi yang masih kotor dan mendorong perbaikan teknik menyikat gigi. Tujuan: Mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan dan dampak penyuluhan kesehatan gigi dengan penggunaan disclosing agent terhadap pengetahuan dan keterampilan pemeliharaan kesehatan gigi pada siswa KB dan TK TSYA Tahfids Al Asyari Pre School Kota Kediri. Metode: Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dilaksanakan pada 13 Mei 2026 dengan sasaran 57 siswa prasekolah. Rangkaian program meliputi registrasi, pre-test, penyuluhan menggunakan poster, demonstrasi teknik menyikat gigi, praktik sikat gigi bersama, aplikasi disclosing agent, evaluasi hasil penyikatan, serta post-test. Hasil: Siswa menunjukkan antusiasme tinggi selama kegiatan. Visualisasi plak berwarna merah membantu anak memahami bahwa gigi yang tampak bersih belum tentu bebas plak. Hasil pre-test dan post-test menggambarkan peningkatan pemahaman tentang waktu menyikat gigi, makanan penyebab gigi berlubang, fungsi disclosing agent, dan teknik menyikat gigi yang benar. Observasi setelah pewarnaan menunjukkan meningkatnya kesadaran anak terhadap area gigi yang perlu dibersihkan dan munculnya keinginan menyikat gigi ulang. Kesimpulan: Kombinasi penyuluhan, demonstrasi, praktik langsung, dan penggunaan disclosing agent efektif meningkatkan pengetahuan dan motivasi anak prasekolah dalam menjaga kebersihan gigi, sehingga direkomendasikan sebagai strategi promosi kesehatan gigi berbasis sekolah.

Erwin Gunawan, Program Studi Sarjana Kedokteran Gigi, Universitas Kadiri, Kediri, Indonesia

Erwin Gunawan is a postgraduate alumnus of the master's program in oral biology at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Indonesia (2023-2025). He is funded by a scholarship from The Indonesia Endowment Funds for Education (LPDP). His experience as a Special Research Student at the Tohoku University Graduate School of Dentistry, Sendai, Japan, collaborated with Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Indonesia. He is currently a Lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry, Kadiri University, Kediri, East Java, where he applies his international clinical and academic experience to enhance dental education and foster innovative research. His research interests focus on oral microbiology, particularly the oral microbiome in relation to stunting, including oral biomarkers and dental health education. Afrida Nurmalasari, Program Studi Sarjana Kedokteran Gigi, Universitas Kadiri, Kediri, Indonesia

Afrida Nurmalasari is a dedicated researcher and academic in the field of dental biomaterials with a primary focus on composite resin materials and natural-derived dental materials. She has more than 15 years of professional experience in academic dentistry, serving on the faculty of the Faculty of Dentistry, Bhakti Wiyata Institute of Health Sciences, Kediri, Indonesia, where she has been actively involved in teaching, research, and community service. For the past four years, she has held the position of Dean, providing academic leadership, curriculum development, and research coordination. In addition, she currently serves as Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Dentistry, Kadiri University, where she is responsible for academic affairs, educational quality assurance, and research development. Farizan Zata Hadyan, Program Studi Sarjana Kedokteran Gigi, Universitas Kadiri, Kediri, Indonesia

Farizan Zata Hadyan is a periodontist and lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry, Kadiri University, Kediri, East Java. He completed his undergraduate dental education at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Jember, and subsequently pursued his specialist training in Periodontology at the Postgraduate Dental Specialist Program (PPDGS) of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Airlangga. His clinical and academic interests center on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of periodontal diseases, as well as the integration of evidence-based periodontics into daily dental practice. In his role as an academic, he is actively involved in teaching, clinical supervision, and mentoring students, while continuously updating his knowledge through scientific reading and professional development. He strongly believes that strengthening literacy is essential for developing critical thinking and professional competence, and therefore encourages readers to cultivate the habit of reading as a foundation for lifelong learning in dentistry.

Apriani Widyasari Nelly, Program Studi Sarjana Kedokteran Gigi, Universitas Kadiri, Kediri, Indonesia

Apriani Widyasari Nelly is a periodontist and lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry, Kadiri University, Kediri, East Java. She completed her undergraduate dental education at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Jember, and later pursued her specialist training in Periodontology at the Postgraduate Dental Specialist Program (PPDGS) of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Airlangga. As an academic, she is actively involved in teaching, clinical supervision, and mentoring dental students, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based periodontal therapy and comprehensive patient care. Her professional interests include the prevention and management of periodontal diseases, the relationship between periodontal health and systemic conditions, and the integration of periodontal literacy into community-based dental programs. Novitasari, Program Studi Sarjana Kedokteran Gigi, Universitas Kadiri, Kediri, Indonesia

Novitasari is an oral medicine specialist and lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry, Kadiri University, Kediri, East Java. She obtained her undergraduate dental degree from the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Jember, and subsequently completed her specialist training in Oral Medicine at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya. In her academic role, she is actively involved in teaching, clinical supervision, and mentoring dental students, with a focus on the diagnosis and management of oral mucosal lesions, oral manifestations of systemic diseases, and other conditions affecting the oral cavity. Her professional interests include early detection of potentially malignant oral disorders, comprehensive management of chronic oral diseases, and the integration of evidence-based oral medicine into daily clinical practice. Meyrinda Tobing is an academic, professional trainer, and facilitator with a strong background in health sciences and education. She completed her Master of Health (M.Kes) at Kadiri University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics Education from Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA). With this interdisciplinary foundation, she is actively involved in teaching, training, and developing learning programs that integrate educational principles with contemporary health issues. Her professional interests include the use of digital technology to enhance health education, particularly in the context of community-based dentistry. Arini Indriyasari is a student in Universitas Strada Indonesia with an educational background in the Dental Profession Program from the Bhakti Wiyata Institute of Health Sciences Kediri, and a Doctoral’s degree of public Health from Universitas Strada Indonesia. Ibnu Gunawan is a medical doctor and health sciences scholar who currently serves as Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Kadiri University, Kediri, Indonesia.
