This community engagement program aimed to facilitate children's understanding of the relationship between language and the environment through the integration of an ecolinguistics approach and Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL). This program was expected to demonstrate that integrating ecolinguistics, involving 15 children aged 11–13 years as the primary participants. A participatory learning approach would be employed through environmental observation, ecological vocabulary development, reflective discussions, experience-based short story writing, story illustration, and the publication of an illustrated anthology. The expected outcomes included children's understanding of the interrelationship between humans, language, and the environment, as reflected in their ecological vocabulary, personal reflections, and narratives based on everyday experiences. The primary output of the program was an illustrated collection of children's short stories documenting their ecological experiences in the public housing environment. This program was expected to demonstrate that integrating ecolinguistics with CLIL provides a meaningful community-based literacy model that enables children to interpret their ecological experiences, express their environmental perspectives through creative writing, and contribute their voices to local environmental discourse.
